A Door That Shouldn't Open (A Teaser from Beyond the Veil Digital)

Some doors are built to keep things out. Others are built to keep them in.
I found this one in a place that doesn't exist on any map—an unmarked stairwell behind a service corridor, where the air tasted like old salt and warm copper.
The handle was bone-white. Not painted. Not polished. Just… bone-white, as if the material had forgotten what color it was supposed to be.
When I pressed my ear to the seam, I didn't hear silence. I heard distance—like the ocean, but deeper. Like a choir rehearsing in a room too large for human lungs.
I should have walked away. Instead, I did what we always do when the unknown offers a hinge: I opened it.
There are shapes the mind refuses to hold. It lets them slip, like water through fingers—until the fingers remember they were never meant to be whole.
This is a small excerpt from an upcoming short horror/sci‑fi release from Beyond the Veil Digital—paired with atmospheric digital art and downloadable assets inspired by the same world.
